Lighting

We inaugurate the new lighting at Lisbon City Hall

Lisbon City Hall has unveiled its new lighting, thanks to a collaboration between Fundación Iberdrola España and the city council of the Portuguese capital

The project enhances one of the city’s most emblematic buildings, beautifies one of its most representative civic spaces and highlights the balcony of Os Paços do Concelho, from which the Republic was proclaimed on 5 October 1910

The exterior lighting project combines state-of-the-art technology with a design conceived to complement the building’s historical and architectural value. To achieve this, 40 floodlights and 67 metres of LED strip lighting have been installed on the main façade, with a total power output of 3,060 W, creating an elegant nighttime appearance in keeping with the building’s institutional character.

Although the work has focused on the main façade, lighting elements have also been installed at Os Paços do Concelho, which forms part of the protected areas of the Baixa Pombalina and São Jorge Castle.

The new lighting at Lisbon City Hall reflects Iberdrola’s and Fundación Iberdrola España’s commitment to preserving historical heritage through innovative and sustainable solutions that ensure emblematic buildings remain cultural landmarks and meeting places for present and future generations.

This project embodies the values that have guided Iberdrola throughout its 125-year history: innovation, sustainability and a commitment to the communities in which we operate.
