Five years of innovation in smart grids
The Global Smart Grids Innovation Hub (GSGIH) is celebrating five years as an international centre of excellence for innovation and knowledge in the field of smart grids
Based in Bilbao and driven by Iberdrola in partnership with the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, since 2021 the Hub has established itself as a public-private collaboration ecosystem connecting companies, start-ups, universities and technology centres to develop solutions that enhance the robustness, resilience and security of the grids.
Over the past five years, the GSGIH has brought together more than 120 partner organisations and companies, driving projects that contribute to the electrification of the economy.
This event forms part of the company’s 125th-anniversary celebrations, highlighting a history marked by innovation, adaptation to change and a commitment to developing key electrical infrastructure to meet the energy challenges of the next 125 years.
