Iberdrola Spain and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) joined forces on Sunday 14 June to host the second “Bilbao en Marcha Contra el Cáncer” charity walk on the esplanade of the Bilbao Maritime Museum.
The second Bilbao en Marcha, with Iberdrola Spain as the main sponsor, focused on promoting healthy lifestyles among the population and raising awareness, particularly among men, of the importance of cancer prevention and research, specifically regarding prostate cancer.
In this second edition, the streets of Bilbao were once again filled with participants, with over 2,500 people taking part in the Bilbao en Marcha Contra el Cáncer, walking a route of approximately 4 kilometres, starting and finishing on the esplanade of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. In addition, on the morning of 14 June, an activities and information area was set up for all ages, raising awareness of the importance of prostate cancer prevention and research.
The partnership between the Cancer Association and Iberdrola Spain began in 2015, and since then over €6 million has been raised for both research and improving the quality of life of those affected by the disease. This has enabled progress in new diagnostic methods and more effective treatments, with the aim of increasing survival rates and improving the quality of life for cancer patients.
Initiatives such as Bilbao en Marcha demonstrate that when we come together and society responds, we are capable of making a real difference.
