We sign the agreement for the lighting refurbishment of the Roman Theatre of Mérida

Thanks to the collaboration agreement between the Mérida Consortium and Fundación Iberdrola España, the Roman Theatre of Mérida will transform its stage by incorporating state-of-the-art LED technology
The Roman Theatre of Mérida will receive an investment of €400,000 aimed at improving the stage lighting. This site, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993 and considered one of the best-preserved monumental complexes in the world, will incorporate state-of-the-art LED technology to renew its lighting.
The agreement aims to promote a more sustainable, efficient lighting system that is respectful of its surroundings. But that is not all: the implementation of these new lights will also help enhance the architectural and monumental richness of the site through a design aimed at improving the experience of visitors and spectators, as explained by Noemí Barbero of VBNB Lightning, the architect responsible for the project.
The event was attended by Laureano León Rodríguez, President of the Governing Council of the Consortium in his capacity as Regional Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Government of Extremadura; the Mayor of Mérida, Antonio Rodríguez Osuna; Jaime Alfonsín, President of Fundación Iberdrola España; Ramón Castrasana, Director of the foundation; the Director-General of Heritage of the Government of Extremadura, Adela Rueda; the Director of the Mérida Monumental City Consortium, Félix Palma; and David Martín, Iberdrola’s Institutional Delegate in Extremadura, among other attendees.
