Palencia Cathedral will be unveiled with new exterior lighting thanks to the Iberdrola Spain Foundation
The exterior of Palencia Cathedral will be unveiled with new decorative lighting following the signing of a partnership agreement between the Iberdrola Spain Foundation, the Diocese and the City Council
The project, with an investment of €300,000, involves the installation of state-of-the-art LED lighting that will reduce the monument’s energy consumption and enhance the beauty of this landmark of Castile and León’s heritage, the third-largest cathedral in Spain after those of Toledo and Seville.
With this lighting project, the Foundation is further highlighting the value of Palencia Cathedral, a key landmark of the historical and artistic heritage of Castile and León and of our country.
This initiative reflects our firm commitment to the conservation of cultural heritage through efficient and environmentally friendly technological solutions, which highlight the architectural values of the cathedral, enhance its appreciation and strengthen its cultural impact for the benefit of the city and its visitors.
This agreement forms part of the wide-ranging programme designed for 2026 to mark the 125th anniversary of Iberdrola’s founding. It ranges from art exhibitions, music festivals and technology showcases to social events under the slogan ‘125 Light Years’.
