HM the King inaugurates the exhibition organised by Iberdrola exploring the technological evolution and future of electricity

His Majesty King Felipe VI, together with Iberdrola Executive Chairman Ignacio Galán, has inaugurated an exhibition exploring the technological evolution and future of electricity, organised by Iberdrola. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge until 20 October at the Crystal Gallery of the Cibeles Palace in Madrid.

During his visit, HM the King, accompanied by other authorities, discovered the key milestones that have shaped the history of electrification, from the first scientific discoveries to the latest technological innovations that are shaping the cities of the future in the ‘age of electricity’. Visitors can explore these developments through an immersive and interactive experience that combines innovation and education.

The inauguration was also attended by the Minister for Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, and the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, as well as the Ambassador of the United States, the European Commission’s highest-ranking representative and the ambassadors of Qatar, Brazil and Finland.

Throughout the exhibition, His Majesty was able to enjoy the original exhibits of significant historical and technological value on display, as well as a tour using mixed reality glasses.

Finally, the visit concluded in the workshop area, where a group of 25 primary and secondary school pupils were learning through experiments about static electricity, electrical circuits, the generation of electric charge and the wireless transmission of energy.

The exhibition is part of 125 Light-Years, the programme through which Iberdrola is celebrating 125 years of history in 2026.
